Accounting Clerk

VP Supply Corp is one of the nation’s largest distributors of plumbing, HVAC, and electrical supplies. We have over 350 employees with 15 locations across Western New York and Pennsylvania. For over 50 years, we have proudly served residential customers as well as contractors and municipalities across a variety of industries.

Position Overview:

Our Finance department is seeking to hire an Accounting Clerk with 1 to 2 years of experience to join our Rochester branch.

Responsibilities:

• Provide accounting and clerical support to the accounting department
• Accurately prepare and maintain accounting documents and records
• Prepare general ledger postings, assist with financial statements, and reconcile key accounts, in a timely manner
• Daily data entry of financial transactions in Sage, ensuring accuracy and completion of information entered
• Research, track and restore accounting or documentation problems and discrepancies
• Inform management and compile reports/summaries on activity areas
• Function in accordance with established standards, procedures, and applicable laws

Qualifications:

• Proven accounting experience, preferably as an Accounts Receivable Clerk or Accounts Payable Clerk
• Familiarity with bookkeeping and accounting procedures
• Competency in Excel and accounting software, preferably SAGE/Timberline
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Outlook.
• Must be extremely detailed oriented and able to perform job functions with high accuracy
• Possibility of working overtime hours during peak accounting times
• Must have reliable daily transportation to branch location.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associates degree or relevant accounting certification is a plus

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

· This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones. While a largely sedentary role, some lifting or carrying of items up to 25 pounds may occasionally be required.

· This job does have the potential to become hybrid once the candidate is fully trained.
