As our team continues to grow, we are excited to welcome a licensed Occupational Therapist Assistant. In this role you will assist with occupational therapy services to patients impaired by physical and/or cognitive dysfunction, including assessment, treatment planning and implementation of treatment plans.
Principle Responsibilities
- Assists Occupational Therapist with screenings and evaluations to determine patient independence with activities of daily living, including self-care skills, work and leisure.
- Assists occupational therapy treatments consistent with the professional and ethical standards of the AOTA for an Occupational Therapist.
- Assists with treatment plans using adaptations, strengthening and retraining to reach patients’ highest potential for independence.
- Provides direct patient care in accordance with productivity standards by use of graded activities to facilitate the restoration of physical and functional abilities.
- Checks, instructs, assigns and reviews the work of OTAs and aides as assigned.
- Provides documentation to maintain quality of the medical record as it relates to reimbursement guidelines, accuracy, and company requirements.
- Participates, as requested, in patient care conferences, per company guidelines and CQI activities.
- Rotate to other facilities to meet productivity/patient care and other duties as assigned.
- Promotes current standards of clinical practice through participation in continuing education and in-service programs.
- Successful completion of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
- Licensure as required by the State of Michigan
- Ability to react effectively to the needs of patients and their families.
- Physically Able to bend, position, transfer and lift patients weighing from 80 pounds to over 300 pounds, without restriction, utilizing lifting devices clinically recommended for the patient.
