Nursery Production Intern

Our Nursery Production intern will work hands-on with our crews and the growing team to learn all about growing methods. Your primary focus will be container production and growing methods; B&B field production, harvesting, and growing; and scheduling production in both the nursery and the greenhouse. This is a paid internship.
Jobs Duties:

• Cultural Practices- Conduct a wide variety of growing duties including pruning, spacing, weeding, irrigation, fertilization, etc.
• Planting annuals, woody and herbaceous perennial stock into containers. Prepare, plant and transport product to growing fields. Plant trees and evergreens in the field.
• Shipping- assemble and load orders of containers and/or perennial stock for retail and/or wholesale sales.
• Field Harvest- Harvest and package field grown nursery stock in B&B, bare-root, or gro-bags.
• Production Planning/Inventory-assist with a wide variety of inventory duties in container and field production
• Other duties- there may be a wide variety of other production or support duties that are required on an occasional basis
• Attend weekly grower meetings to learn and discuss plant health/ production
• Operate a variety of nursery equipment in the performance of above duties

• Sophomore, Junior or Senior in College
• Horticulture, Soil Science, Ag., Forestry, Biology or majors applicable
• Plant ID course preferred and helpful. Horticulture production or related experience helpful, but not required.

• 40 hours a week, M-F. May-August.
