Statement of Primary Purpose
Provide instructional services and administrative services related to the Nursing Assistant program to faculty, staff, and students.
Classification
Curriculum faculty, full-time, exempt.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Perform instructional duties as assigned as outlined in the Faculty Policy Manual
Prepare paperwork for new faculty for DFS approval
Keep all policies updated
Keep all instructors updated of any changes in program curriculum
Keep current on State and Federal Nurse Aide testing guidelines
Keep all teaching materials (ie. Books, videos) updated; all material must be updated every 5 years.
Be prepared for DFS on-site visit every two years or on an unannounced basis
Find extra faculty if more than 10 students in class for clinical portion
Register students
Provide orientation when needed to new classes
Provide all teaching materials for instructor, including extensive orientation of State, Federal and College expectations for new faculty. Teaching materials include State curriculum, videos, daily class topic schedule based on State curriculum, handouts, current Nurse Aide book, skills sheets, clinical evaluation forms and policies.
Make sure student immunization records are complete before entering the clinical portion of class.
Make sure instructors are keeping accurate student records including roster, clinical evaluation, immunization, social and driver's license, Appendix A, answer sheets to all tests and quizzes with site number and test score, any make-up assignments, CPR test/answer sheet, student agreement.
Maintain accurate course master files, including syllabi, calendars, contracts, rosters, registration materials and student agreements.
Make sure instructors keep all information on students that drop
Make sure to inform Administrative Assistant of any changes in class schedules or of any student that drops.
Maintain clinical affiliations with approved clinical sites and seek out new clinical opportunities.
Mentor new faculty and deal with faculty, student, and clinical problems
Administer six-hour mock test with instructors
Inform DHS of any and all changes in program; faculty, sites, teaching materials (textbooks, Video, etc.)
Update quizzes and exams
Annual reports for BON and DFS
Attend quarterly update meeting with other community colleges and DFS
Annual site surveys with DFS
Order textbooks through bookstore and instructor copies through publishers
Answering and returning student calls and messages
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
Knowledge and Skills
Minimum of 1 year (2,000 hours) of long term care experience.
Minimum of 2 years (4,000 hours) of RN experience
Teaching experience preferred
Physical Demands
Standing, classroom environment, some lifting
Licensing Requirement
Unencumbered North Carolina RN license.
Working Conditions and Environment
Classroom/clinical lab
Equipment Operation
Any equipment utilized by Nurse Aide's in a clinical or classroom setting
