Our Claims professionals support AIG policyholders through some of the most trying times. Our Claims team is an industry leader, drawing daily on its unparalleled levels of expertise to offer our clients the highest levels of stewardship to drive total cost of claim improvement and consistent outcomes. AIG manages claims using a wealth of technical and market knowledge about risks, business practices, and the ever-evolving legal and regulatory environment.
The Global Claims Quality Assurance, Governance and Training Team supports AIG's global Claims function by monitoring and assessing claims handling and, where necessary, providing recommendations and facilitation of improvement guidance and initiatives. This is supplemented by a claims-specific training function that develops and delivers training across the global claims function. In addition, the team provides regulatory and governance support to maximize compliance with key controls and regulatory requirements.
About the role
As the North America Headof Claims Governance and Compliance you will be responsible for executing the Global Claims Governance and Compliance strategy across North America including building out a robust Governance Framework to support Global Authorities, Global Claim Handling Policies, managing the US based adjuster licensing process and leading efforts on various Global Claim initiatives. You will have oversight of Claims Compliance activities across North America Claims acting as the primary liaison between Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), Internal Audit Group (IAG), Compliance, External Auditors, and the Claims organization.
In this high profile role, you will have the unique opportunity to engage with senior leadership globally and be given the autonomy to run with and own projects that will add value and directly impact the business. Your success in this role and the relationships and networks you build along the way will provide you with significant opportunities for growth.
What you need to know:
  • Align and strengthen controls for North American Claims to ensure consistency, implementing effective best practices, to provide maximum value to the business
  • In collaboration with International Head of Claim Governance and Compliance, develop and maintain Global Claim policies, standards, and controls ensuring Claims personnel have knowledge and receive training around AIG policies, standards, and controls
  • In partnership with International Head of Claim Governance and Compliance, develop Claim Governance framework/guardrails as required to adequately address risk arising from changes in technology or process.
  • Monitor existing Claims operational control structure and ensure necessary changes to controls are made based upon audit feedback (self-audits, internal audits, PwC audits).
  • Represent Claims in enterprise forums and projects to ensure global operating excellence and enhanced internal collaboration.

What we're looking for:
  • Extensive Compliance, Governance and/or audit, regulatory background. Comprehensive awareness of the Business and Regulatory environment
  • Possess a strong understanding of Insurance Claim operations and adjudication process
  • Exceptional communication skills including the ability to develop and present clear and concise analysis and recommendations to senior management
  • Ability to connect staff both on an individual level and in large groups; capacity to enforce accountability, cultivate entrepreneurship, and learn the strengths and weaknesses to best leverage skills and nurture talent.

For positions based in New York City,the base salary range is $127,000-$159,000 and the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
