Position: Non-QM Underwriter (Wholesale Mortgage)

Position Status: Full Time

Reports to: SVP of Underwriting

Location: Irvine, CA / Richardson, TX

Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Non-QM Mortgage Underwriter to join our team. As a Mortgage Underwriter, you will play a crucial role in evaluating and assessing mortgage loan applications to determine their eligibility for approval. Your expertise in underwriting and financial analysis will contribute to the success of our organization.

Duties:

• Ability to manually underwrite complex transactions to ensure the loan meets established underwriting guidelines for Alt doc programs 1099, bank statement , asset utilization and P&L
• Assess borrower's financial situation, creditworthiness, and ability to repay the loan
• Ability to review all loan documents for accuracy and consistency and address discrepancies as necessary
• Evaluate loan-to-value ratios, debt-to-income ratios, and other financial indicators to make informed decisions
• Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify potential issues or red flags
• Issue loan decisions to our business partners in a clear and concise manner
• Provide exceptional customer service to both our internal and external customers, including but not limited to answering loan specific questions on non-agency programs and reviewing program requirements within established SLAs
• Maintain production goals & standards in accordance with established KPIs and production metrics
• Supports the organization’s goals and values, gives, and welcomes feedback and contributes to building a positive team spirit
• Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to mortgage underwriting
• Additional responsibilities as management sees fit

Requirements:

• Minimum 4 years of experience (recent experience in the last 3 years) in Mortgage Lending with at least 2 years of experience as an Non-QM Underwriter
• Encompass experience is required
• Recent manual underwriting experience in the mortgage industry
• Proficient in self employment income calculations and guidelines
• Experience with the following programs: Bank statement, P&L, 1099
• Must be able to work independently and take action as needed to complete a loan file
• Must have proactive approach to workload
• Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment is essential in this role and priorities
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) to effectively communicate decisions and recommendations

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $36.00 - $46.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
