The Nittany Lions Read/Nittany Lions Count Federal Work-Study Program (NLR/NLC) is seeking applicants to join our program for the 2023/2024 Academic Year for placements supporting both Francis McClure and Twin Rivers United Elementary Schools.
NLR/NLC students assist and support the classroom teachers, engage directly with the children, and provide one-on-one and/or small-group instruction. The following positions are available:
Reading Academic Support - mornings (9-12)/afternoons (12-3) daily
Math Academic Support - mornings (9-12)/afternoons (12-3) daily
Healthy Lifestyle Development Assistants - midday (11:30-2) daily
A commitment of 6-12 hours per week is preferred. Hourly rates for NLR/NLC students for the 2023/2024 academic year is $14/hour
All positions with NLR/NLC require the acquisition of the Three-Public Clearances for Employment.
This job requires the following 3 publicly available clearances:
- PA State Police Criminal Background Check
- PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form
- FBI Criminal Background Check.
Students who received a Federal Work Study award have the opportunity to obtain a job and perform related duties either on campus, or remotely, if possible and at the discretion of the employer . A Federal Work Study award does not guarantee a job position is available.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.
