Description

New Troop Support Coordinator (Bilingual)

This is a full-time, hybrid position located at our North Dallas offices.  The schedule is flexible and requires some evenings and weekends. 

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Spanish (written and verbal).
  • Experience in public speaking and facilitation.
  • Must be willing to work evenings and weekends.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with volunteers.
  • Experience working with youth.
  • Experience with Salesforce.

 

Job summary:

The New Troop Support Coordinator works directly with volunteers to ensure Girl Scouting is strong, visible, and thriving in diverse communities.  The coordinator recruits, onboards, supervises, and trains community volunteer leaders while mentoring them throughout their first-year experience.  This position offers the opportunity to work independently and develop strong relationships within assigned communities and with volunteers. The New Troop Support Coordinator makes a difference in the lives of Girl Scouts every day by ensuring new Girl Scout volunteers are engaged, prepared, and excited to bring the amazing benefits of Girl Scouts to all girls in their communities. This role will require a high level of Spanish proficiency due to nature of the communications needs – conversational and written. Spanish will be utilized up to 95% of this work.  This includes conversational and written engagement and creation of Spanish/Bilingual materials and delivery.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Ensure Girl Scouting is open to all girls and adults by delivering the Girl Scout message of inclusion and diversity to prospective members of the council.
  • Maintain knowledge of a variety of the sales staff concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with all different audiences, including girls, parents, volunteers, and GSNETX team members.
  • Collaborate with supervisor to prioritize responsibilities in order to make the highest impact.
  • In designated areas, apply membership trends, market share data, demographic data, etc. to campaign tactics to achieve or exceed membership goals.
  • Identify and develop relationships with appropriate community leaders, organizations, schools, religious/educational institutions, businesses and volunteers to share the Girl Scout story and enlist advocates to increase membership.
  • Directly responsible for meeting individual membership goals for girls and adults in designated areas.
  • Attend essential meetings and training.
  • Identify partner sites to aid in program improvements for effective and efficient achievement of outcomes.
  • Implement and manage the processes that ensure the effective and seamless completion of new leader onboarding:
    • Identification of troop leadership and formal formation of troops including girl placement;
    • Ensuring closure to payment/assignment, completion of background check, all required training and onboarding of new leaders;
    • Assignment of troop leaders to New Leader Academy;
    • Assist with training on GSLE & planning troop calendar and activities for the year.
  • Perform administrative duties, including contacting and scheduling appointments/events with community organizations, agencies and volunteers.
  • Facilitate in-person Spanish training courses and monthly leader newsletters and meetings.
  • Proactively communicates with troop leaders to ensure they are supporting their local community of Girl Scouts.
  • Respond in a prompt and efficient manner to incoming requests, leveraging technology and customer relationship management system (CRM) for communication tracking. Provide superb internal and external customer service and support to meet or exceed GSNETX organizational goals.
  • Ensure the integrity of membership data for mentored troops in the membership system, including but not limited to troop information updates, troop status, membership registration, and troop financial reports.
  • Equip volunteers to effectively resolve and potentially escalate conflicts and adhere to GSNETX Volunteer Policies & Procedures.
  • Travel to various school or community locations to register volunteers and girl participants, and to mentor new leaders on the Girl Scout Leadership Experience curriculum and activities for girls at designated points throughout the year.
  • Attend Day/Twilight Camp with volunteers as needed; attend leader events, planning meetings and troop meetings/activities as assigned.
  • Stay up to date on available opportunities for mentored troops, including volunteer training, the National Program Portfolio and Volunteer Toolkit, program opportunities, and the GSNETX product programs.
  • Mentor leaders as needed during the Girl Scout Cookie Program to build five key skills: goal setting, time management, budgeting, people skills, and business ethics.
  • Mentor and assist leaders with choosing and registering for field trips, special events, and take action projects.
  • At the end of each membership year, ensures smooth transition of new leaders/ troop for independent leadership/troop role within assigned service units.  Guides leaders through early renewal campaign and planning of next year’s troop calendar of meetings/events.  Completely transition troops to Troop Support team.
  • Collaborate with Department Director to build annual strategy for Troops with Mentors.
  • Partner with Multicultural Manager to ensure all activities are culturally sensitive, inclusive and community building.  Curate the needs for Spanish proficient families and ensuring all materials are culturally relevant.
  • Create and maintain bi-lingual Rallyhood Channel for volunteers.
  • Create all communications in a bilingual format including Formstack forms and assist families complete forms as needed.
  • Support Marketing team by using technical skills to perform media interviews in Spanish as needed to promote the events/activities and spread awareness within the Spanish community around the Girl Scout Leadership Program.

 

Qualifications

Minimum requirements:

  • Spanish proficiency required. A skills test will be required as part of the job offer.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing or related field preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
  • Minimum (1-2) years applicable administrative, project management experience, or equivalent combination of education and practical work experience.
  • Experience with Salesforce is a plus.
  • Experience with a volunteer workforce or membership organization is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently within the framework of the council’s plan of work.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrate and promote a climate of courtesy, respect and professionalism to coworkers, the volunteers served by this council, and others with whom her/his job puts her/him in contact.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.

  • Must be able to travel within established geographic areas and council service centers, as necessary.
  • Must have reliable transportation, hold a valid drivers’ license and meet GSNETX driving record & automobile insurance requirements.
