General Description
The Academic Support & Early Alert Coordinator plays a pivotal role in supporting student success and retention efforts within the college community. This position is responsible for implementing and managing Early Alert systems designed to identify at-risk students and provide timely interventions to support their academic progress. The Academic Support & Early Alert Coordinator collaborates closely with faculty, staff, and students to facilitate proactive strategies that address academic, social, and personal challenges hindering student success. This position reports directly to the Director of Library Services and Student Success.
Essential Job Functions

  • Maintain Early Alert System: manage and recommend improvements to Early Alert systems to identify students who may be experiencing academic difficulties or other challenges.
  • Monitor Student Progress: Regularly review data from Early Alert systems and other sources to identify students who may benefit from intervention.
  • Coordinate Interventions: Collaborate with faculty, advisors, counselors, and other stakeholders to coordinate appropriate interventions for at-risk students.
  • Provide Outreach and Support: Reach out to at-risk students to offer support, resources, and guidance to address their academic and personal needs.
  • Develop Support Plans: Work with students to develop personalized success plans that address academic, social, and personal challenges.
  • Facilitate Referrals: Connect students with appropriate campus resources, including tutoring services, counseling, financial aid, academic advising, or others.
  • Maintain Records: Keep detailed records of student interactions, interventions, and outcomes to track progress and measure the effectiveness of support efforts.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Collaborate with faculty, staff, administrators, and student organizations to promote a campus culture that supports student success and retention.
  • Provide Training and Support: Offer training and support to faculty and staff on the use of Early Alert systems and best practices for supporting at-risk students.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Assess the effectiveness of Early Alert initiatives and recommend improvements based on data analysis and feedback.
  • Academic Support Workshops: Develop and conduct workshops, classroom presentations and coordinate events to support student academic and personal success.
  • Academic Support Resources: Develop academic success resources including, but not limited to on-line and print resources.
  • Academic Support One-on-One: Provide one-on-one and small group tutorial sessions for a variety of courses, with emphasis on study strategies, academic reading/writing, science, and mathematics through College Algebra.

Other Job Functions
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.
  • Represent and promote the services of the OASIS and community events.
  • Serve on committees as requested.

Qualifications:

Education Associate degree required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience At least two years of experience working in an educational setting or a learning laboratory, including experience with computer applications and digital technologies. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to interact cooperatively and productively with staff, faculty, students, and the public. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Excellent oral and written communication, with knowledge of standard, academic English. Strong math/basic algebra skills, with ability and willingness to learn additional math topics. Good organizational skills. Comfortable using computers and adept at most common technology functions (email, Internet search, working with electronic files and folders, online databases, etc.). Willingness to learn and follow safety procedures and comply with established college policies and regulations. Physical Requirement Requires constant movement and observation, operating computers and audiovisual equipment, as well as various other instructional and office machines. Security-Sensitive This position is security-sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215.
Working ConditionsNormal computer laboratory environment. Some evening and Saturday hours required.

Salary:

$37,000 - $40,000
