Position Summary
As an integral part of our dynamic team, the Jr. Office Engineer at Wescom Solutions plays a crucial role in representing the project owner for construction administration matters. This multifaceted role demands a solid understanding of construction methods, procedures, and administrative processes, coupled with excellent documentation skills—both written and computer-based.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as the project owner's representative for construction administration issues.
- Review, modify, and manage schedules, specifications, and drawings.
- Help identify and resolve construction or engineering problems, initiate field changes, and evaluate alternate construction methods.
- Independently handle assignments, exercising judgment to achieve project objectives.
- Communicate seamlessly with various stakeholders, ensuring clear project understanding.
- Prepare status and progress reports.
- Manage project documentation, including filing and correspondence, to prevent delays.
- Work closely with project staff to maintain up-to-date documentation.
- Assist in reviewing contractor's claims and prepare change orders and contract modifications.
- Provide detailed reports on document control, RFI processing, and labor compliance aspects of the project.
- Ensure seamless project progress by managing administrative tasks efficiently.
- Handle documentation, filing, and correspondence to prevent project delays.
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering; relevant coursework and projects during college are considered.
- Eagerness to learn and develop skills in OCS systems design, covering both DC rail (600 to 1500 volt) and AC systems (12 to 25 kilovolt).
- Exposure to AutoCAD or MicroStation is a plus
- Interest in obtaining a professional engineer’s license or engineer-in-training certificate
- Enthusiasm for the transit/transportation industry.
- Willingness to participate in field testing of OCS systems.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
