Job Description
DRI is seeking a full-time faculty member to serve as a Curriculum Developer and Communications Manager for its PreK-12 STEM programming for Nevada Robotics, a PreK-12 STEM education program. This person will lead the curriculum design team to create integrated robotics and computer science curriculum used for teacher professional development and outreach engagements across the state of Nevada. Strong knowledge of Nevada state content standards including Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), computer science (CS), English Language Arts (ELA), early childhood education (ECE), and math is required. This person will lead the communications efforts to support social media, communication with key industry and educational partners, and oversee the website design team. This position will contribute to grant writing efforts, quarterly reporting, and donor relations, and requires strong written and communication skills. Experience in Curriculum Development, grant writing, social media, teaching, robotics, and drone education is preferred. This faculty position is expected to participate in statewide teacher training and requires a flexible work schedule. Paid travel to small rural communities as well as Las Vegas and Reno is included. This position is located in Reno, NV and both on-campus and remote work are required.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in education, English, marketing, communications, etc. from an accredited institution.
  • 6 years of related Pre-K-college educational experience including teaching, school administration, supervision, etc.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Illustrator, Canva, Google Suite, and social media platforms.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to prioritize assignments and commitment to meet deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong degree of accuracy and reliability as well as sound judgment.
  • Ability to work independently and carry out assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to maintain strong relationships with colleagues, sponsors, and other external parties.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in research, non-profit, or university setting.
  • 10 years of related Pre-K-college educational experience including teaching, school administration, supervision, etc.
  • 5+ years of related experience with one of more of the following: Curriculum Development, communications, marketing, and/or grant writing.

Conditions of Employment

  • Must have and maintain a valid US driver’s license.
  • Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check.
  • This position may require the ability to perform physical tasks, such as moving or lifting objects up to 40 lbs., and occasional stooping, bending, and kneeling. Sitting and staring at a computer screen for long periods of time and standing and teaching for long periods of time.
  • This position requires occasional driving to off campus events.

Compensation and Benefits
The minimum annual starting salary is $79,597 and is competitive and commensurate with education, experience, and aligns with similar public academic research institutions. DRI offers a benefits package that includes health, dental, vision, life and long-term disability insurance; including 17.5% retirement match, 24 annual leave days, beginning balance of 30 sick leave days, 12 paid holidays, educational benefits, and the choice of two health insurance plans that can be supplemented with flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts. Additionally, there is no state income tax and no social security deduction.
