Job Title: Network/Systems Analyst
Calendar Work Days: 12 month
Supervisor: Chief Information Officer
Status: Exempt - Non-Union

POSITION SUMMARY
The Network/Systems Analyst is responsible for analyzing, designing, installing, configuring, maintaining and repairing network servers; systems and subsystems. They oversee the computer/server operation and environment; providing direction, information, and recommendations regarding network configurations and installations. The analyst works closely with and supports the Network and System Administrator. The position requires the ability to be on 24 hour call and the availability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE - KNOWLEDGE:

 
  • Degree in computer science, information technology or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
  • CCNA or Comptia Network + certification or relevant experience.
  •  Three or more years of Microsoft Active Directory or demonstrated experience.
  • Experience with Aruba access points and switches preferred.
  •  Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  •  Ability to communicate in English (speak/read/write)
  •  Ability to set work priorities, multi-task and work independently, and use time management and organization strategies well.
  •  Presents a professional image and interacts professionally with faculty, staff, students and community
 


ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 
  • The tasks listed below are representative of the essential performance responsibilities. Tasks assigned to individuals will vary based on department needs and it is possible not all duties will be performed in any given year. However individuals must be able to perform the following duties, with or without reasonable accommodation, as assigned by their supervisor.
  • Provides support of server and network systems including LAN/WAN network, troubleshooting, data cable infrastructure, escalated helpdesk support and proactive monitoring of mission critical systems.
  •  Implements and maintains the equipment necessary to provide the District with connectivity for IP protocols between all schools and facilities, and high-speed IP connectivity to the Internet. Advises and assists incorporating cable and wireless technologies into this plan. 
  •  Assists in computer, server and network installations as needed including the upgrading of software, hardware and network infrastructures.
  • Work closely with the Network and Systems Administrators to solve connectivity and other problems.
  •  Supports and maintains user account information including rights, security and system groups.
  •  Monitors and maintains the District's firewall and web filters. Makes recommendations on configurations and improving overall security practices.
  •  Proactively monitors the school District's internal and external networks on a regular basis. Records baseline information or defined metrics on problem tracking situations as needed.
  •  Assists with maintaining and managing the District's VoIP phone system.
  •  Documents current systems operations and makes recommendations for improvements. Make adjustments to documentation as needed.
  •  Develops, defines, implements, and enforces Information Security Policies and Procedures.
  •  Manages computer system backups, disaster recovery plan and procedures.
  •  Manages and maintains the District's Active Directory, SCCM, Manage Engine, Office 365, Google Apps for Education and other related District systems.
  •  Monitors, manages and maintains all Uninterruptible Power Supplies.
  • Must be able to work as an individual or in a team environment to address mission critical situations as needed. Some work will be outside normal business hours. Work day schedules may be revised to accommodate needs of the school District.
  •  Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional affiliations.
  •  Provides service and projects a positive and professional appearance to all stakeholders with a positive, supportive demeanor.
  •  Communicates effectively and appropriately, as well as exhibit patience and understanding with students, staff and the general public.
  •  Assist with the District's capital projects program as required related to the technical systems and infrastructure.
  •  Work with building, District, and instructional technology teams in the implementation of building and District-wide technology initiatives.
  •  Maintains, analyzes, troubleshoots, and repairs/replaces computer hardware and peripherals, software, network, A/V, PA, clocks, VoIP, security, and other District systems as assigned.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by Chief Information Officer or designee.
 


PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit and see, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds April 2022 regularly/daily. The employee is required to use computers and other office equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, such as to read type or hand written material. The noise level in the work environment is generally quiet but can also be that of a high school and can be loud when in places like gyms and cafeterias. The employee is continuously interacting with students and staff.
