POSITION: Network System Engineer
SUPERVISOR: Vice President of Human Resources and Information Technology
Responsibilities/Duties:
This is a highly technical position responsible for the design, installation, adjustment, and maintenance of core infrastructure equipment and systems. The primary duties also include maintaining network security, and the incumbent serves as a subject matter expert (SME) in cyber defense. The work involves continuous evaluation of existing infrastructure equipment with attention to advancing technologies and best practices. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring the stability and integrity of in- house voice, data, communication, and wireless technologies. The incumbent performs related work as required.
- Installs, adjusts, and maintains core infrastructure equipment and systems including, but not limited to, data communication equipment, storage area networks, switched IP network equipment, cyber defense and border network equipment, virtual and physical servers, network management and monitoring equipment, surveillance systems and wireless LAN systems;
- Designs, implements, and maintains systems to include call managers, PBX, transmission equipment, VOIP, and any digital or analog instruments or works closely with strategic suppliers;
- Develops implementation plans for new systems, including engineering, training, and installation plans, method of procedure (MOP), bill of material, and circuit cut sheets where needed;
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft products including but not limited to Active Directory and Exchange configurations;
- In-depth knowledge of backup and recovery systems;
- Responsible for multi-function devices in addition to stand alone printing and dictation equipment;
- Produces documentation on all related systems, such as network diagrams, operation manuals, configuration records, and technical procedures;
- Produces statistical reporting as needed;
- Maintains accurate inventory of all computing and audio visual equipment including but not limited to upgrade schedules;
- Responsible for audio/visual equipment and connectivity;
- Responds to system outages and coordinates with support vendors/strategic suppliers to resolve problems; Utilizes appropriate software and hardware tools to diagnose complex network and telephone problems;
- Conducts routine testing of all network elements;
- Maintains working knowledge of budgetary purchases;
- Performs server and security audits, system backups, and recovery; Assists in formulating policies and standards;
- Maintains seamless communication with supervisor;
- May attend conferences and seminars to stay up to date on latest job knowledge;
- General oversight of Information Services staff under supervision/guidance of supervisor;
- Direct supervision over Information Technology projects/work orders;
- General oversight of contractors in relation to tech support, infrastructure equipment and systems.
Ability to effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment; Strong customer service skills required. Willingness to adopt new technologies as they pertain to adding efficiency to the institution. General knowledge of project management a plus.
Performs duties according to the highest ethical and moral standards, and in adherence with the facility's corporate compliance plan and all applicable governing laws. Adheres to the facility's confidentiality statement in accessing and safeguarding protected health information (PHI) of residents and employees, as necessary to perform job duties.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems, Cyber Security, Telecommunications, Network Engineering or closely related field and a minimum of five years hands-on configuration experience.
