Job Description
As a Network Smart Hands Technician, you will perform roles in delivering a reliable, stable network for our global client in Newtown Square.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Perform tasks delivered via ticketing systems and other forms of communications.
- Complete RMA's, installations, moves, additions, changes and decommissions of various network hardware and access points.
- Racking and stacking of network devices.
- The patching cabling between network equipment and the customer’s network.
- The installation of power cables from equipment to the power supply in the rack/cabinet/closet.
- Physical layer troubleshooting.
- Equipment disposal activities.
- Performing and assisting with network troubleshooting.
- Manage pre-installation site survey to confirm sites are properly surveyed.
- Support with code upgrades in Cisco and Aruba components.
- Inventory management and tracking of new and existing devices.
- Perform onsite operational testing and provide appropriate roll back procedures as required.
- Maintain a secure, clean, well-documented cabling closet and plant areas.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
- 12 months experience working with Cisco or another network equipment provider.
- Requires experience working in data centers and communications closets.
- Must understand cable patching processes and procedures, including working knowledge of various cable types (copper/ fiber and connection variations).
- Understanding of network communications through the OSI layers.
- Must understand network terminology.
- High School Diploma.
- Cisco CCNA preferred, but not required.
ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES INCLUDE:
- Must be able to work under moderate supervision and have time management skills to best utilize downtime for self-development and completion of documentation and tasks.
- Lift up 60 lbs.
- Comfortable working at heights (step stool and ladder).
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently, conscientious, with good follow-through.
- Must be able to multi-task in a dynamic environment, and work positively with other team members around the globe, vendors and client’s internal customers.
- Ability to work in an agile global IT infrastructure environment.
