Laboratory Specialist, Bioengineering Cell & Tissue Laboratory

Working in Hofstra University’s DeMatteis School of Engineering and Applied Science, the Laboratory Specialist will support the daily operations in the Bioengineering Cell & Tissue Laboratory. This is a full-time, onsite position; work for this role is performed on campus.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Designs and conducts experiments leading to publications.
• Manages the daily operations of the laboratory and safety operation of the laboratory including: maintaining safety data sheets, ordering, and participating in joint upkeep.
• Conducts experiments and mentors undergraduates with their research projects.
• Provides training and supervision to students/interns involved in laboratory activities.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Master’s degree in Engineering or related field required.
• 1-3 years of wet lab experience.
• Demonstrated experience working in a laboratory setting.
• Motivated and detail-oriented individual with ability to successfully execute experiments and maintain laboratory.
• Familiarity with data analysis software and statistical methods.
• Previous research experience with cell culture, and microfluidic device fabrication, and atomic force microscopy on cells.
• Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage time effectively.

• Doctorate degree is preferred.
