Description
The Network Engineer installs, analyzes, evaluates and supports network communications including LAN/WAN systems at more than 350 OCONUS sites.
Description of Duties
- Evaluates current network systems to propose and implement network system enhancements
- Defines, designs, and implements network solutions
- Applies advanced Network Engineering and architecture knowledge on complex and diverse problems where analysis of situation requires in-depth evaluation of various factors.
- May oversee network systems projects.
- Designs, installs, supports, and maintains new network hardware and software infrastructure.
- Provides right-sized network solutions that meet all program and enterprise requirements.
- Allocates network resources, monitors network performance and usage, and ensures most cost effective and efficient use of network resources.
- Ensures all IT equipment complies with industry and regulatory standards.
- Troubleshoots, analyses, and resolves faults in operational networks.
- Ensures routine preventative maintenance and license compliance is performed.
- Works closely with the program technical lead to write, validate, and implement accurate technical process documentation that is reviewed and approved by the Enterprise Network standards working group.
- Provides training and support for installation, deployment and integration team members to ensure hardware configuration and installation procedures and policies are correctly implemented.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Experience, Education, & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, or related field; May accept additional experience in lieu of degree
- Five (5) years’ experience required in Network Engineering.
- Cisco CCNA & CCNP Routing and Switching certification strongly preferred.

- Active Top Secret Clearance
Desired Experience, Skills, & Attributes
- Ability to remain current on Cisco platforms.
- Strong customer service skills working with a diverse, multi-national customer base, and the ability to simplify and communicate complex technical concepts, both verbally and written.
- Highly self-motivated and works effectively within a small team of engineers or independently, with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
- Cisco DNA Center and SD Access experience a plus
