The Network Engineer is responsible for assisting in Active Directory administration, design, and maintenance; server management including DNS, DHCP SMS, WSUS, DFS, terminal servers, anti-virus, file / print and database servers; server hardware repair, maintenance and life cycle management; Data backup, disaster recovery and virtual server environment maintenance and administration; installation, maintenance, and administration of IP telephony and network infrastructure (both wired and wireless).  Travel, off-hours maintenance, occasional extended-hours support, and on-call for failures and outages is required.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

·         Maintains wired and wireless network infrastructure.

·         Maintains Cisco video conference system, call manager and call center express.

·         Maintains internal/external DNS and DHCP scopes.

·         Manages end-user system and security updates.

·         Configures, creates, and maintains virtual server environment.

·         Performs software upgrades, and equipment repairs as needed.

·         Prepares cost estimate for equipment and installation and submits data to management for authorization.

·         Orders equipment, prepares installation specifications, and monitors progress of installation to ensure facilities are ready on specified date

·         Identifies areas of operation which need upgraded equipment such as software, voice mail, or telephone equipment.

·         Inspects company premises to ascertain location and space available for installation of equipment.

·         Maintains up-to-date records of managed systems, equipment inventory, spares, etc.

·         Creates and maintains call plans for all companies under Warren Equipment IT.

·         Reads technical manuals and brochures to determine equipment needs or system enhancements.

·         Establishes network users, user environments, directories, and security for networks being installed.

·         Installs and tests necessary software and hardware.

·         Maintains reliable network backups for all managed servers and data storage.

·         Provides users with network technical support.

·         On call for failures and outages of managed systems.

·         PC Support duties and functions.

·         Travel to Warren CAT locations for troubleshooting, setup, and/or maintenance of network infrastructure and servers.

 

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or seven to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. 
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Candidates for this position will have knowledge of Cisco networking equipment, IP telephony, BGP routing protocols, CCUM, CCX, working knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory and VMware VSphere.
  • Preferred certifications: MCSE, CCE, CCNA
