Network Engineer Consultant

Hi! Tech is looking for a sharp, energetic, creative, highly-motivated, and personable Network Engineer to join our team.

Responsibilities include:

• Supporting and leading the network needs for a successful tech-forward global organization while designing and implementing future network projects for expansion
• Demonstrating ownership of the network environment by analyzing, planning, testing, and implementing network security and network connectivity
• Working closely with the IT Team on the development, testing, documentation, and configuration of the overall network
• Responding to and resolving tickets assigned to the team in a timely and customer-focused manner
• Administering the Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN), Internet, and hardware
• Administering the firewall and network security policies
• Maintaining Watchguard, Palo Alto, and Meraki firewall(s) on both hardware and virtual hosts
• Maintaining Wireless Access Points (WAPs)
• Actively pursuing new technologies to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the companies network
• Escalating problems to the IT team, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure successful resolution and reporting
• Managing vendor relationships (and performing contract reviews)
• Providing training and guidance to others on the IT team on network analysis, troubleshooting techniques, and best practices
• Maintaining documentation of network, processes, procedures, knowledgebase articles, troubleshooting guides, and change logs
• Project managing approved network improvement
• Providing detailed, accurate, and timely reporting of work completed for client deliverables
• Responsibility extends to all offices of the company and may require travel to any of companies offices, including New York City, Detroit, and Seattle

Experience and qualifications:

• 8+ years of experience in general network management, firewalls, and support
• 5+ years of network architecture, design, and deployment experience in multi-site enterprise environments utilizing some or all of the following software & hardware platforms:
  • Cisco Meraki Dashboard
  • Aruba Central
  • Aruba network hardware, including WAPs
  • Brocade ICX Switches
  • Watchguard firewall
  • Palo Alto firewall
  • Meraki firewall
  • Dark Fiber
  • Familiar with networking concepts and protocols:
    • IP
    • DHCP
    • DNS
    • TCP/UDP
    • VLANs
• Security or Fire Alarm Installer License
• 3+ years of data security experience
• Preferred network certifications include:
  • CCNA
  • Cisco Meraki Solutions Specialist
  • Security+
  • Network+
• Knowledge and implementation experience in network troubleshooting & monitoring tools
• Deep background in supporting Apple products, iOS, and Google Workspace for Business
• Familiarity with business continuity and disaster recovery
• Strong troubleshooting skills
• Excellent administrative and communication skills with attention to detail
• Ability to work in varying office cultures and able to blend in and work quietly and discreetly (when needed)
• Proven track record of successfully managing multiple competing tasks
• Ability to deep-dive into research and find fixes when faced with unfamiliar technical hurdles or blockers

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
