This position is a member of the ITS Network Communication Technologies Core Team that manages DNS and DHCP services for the FSU Campus. The primary function is to manage and administer the DNS and DHCP registrations for campus.

ResponsibilitiesThis position is for the student internship program. It is the part-time Hostmaster for the Core Networking group and is the primary person responsible for making the bulk of the campus DNS and DHCP changes for the user community as well as initial case triage within the Hostmaster and Core provider groups. This position will also be trained and developed on the campus network and firewalls with hopes to grow into a future member of the NCT networking team. This is for the student internship program. It is the part-time Hostmaster for the Core Networking group and is the primary person responsible for making the bulk of the campus DNS and DHCP changes for the user community as well as initial case triage within the Hostmaster and Core provider groups. This position will also be trained and developed on the campus network and firewalls with hopes to grow into a future member of the NCT networking team. This position operates technical equipment, and completes maintenance/duties related to lab, computer, camera, machinery, or other specialized equipment.
QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalency.
Preferred QualificationsExperience with a linux command line interface
Familiar with ISC Bind and/or other DNS systems
Familiar with ISC DHCP and/or other DHCP systems
Familiar with Python programming language
HelpfulWhat is a typical day in this position?
Typical days are processing relevant cases for DNS and DHCP changes that are submitted from campus partners. For those interested in networking, they will be surrounded by the top level Network Engineers for campus and will be able to immerse themselves in networking. Depending on competencies, additional programming duties (mostly using python) may be assigned for additional experience as it is leveraged heavily for various tasks.
Who is an ideal candidate for this position?
This position is ideally suited for Undergraduate students in their Freshman or Sophomore years although any student interested in the network field, specifically working with routers, firewalls, and linux systems, would be a good fit.
