Reports to NW2C Program Director
Native Ways 2 College (NW2C) is part of Tzicatl Community Development Corporation (Tzicatl CDC). Our mission is to advance the rights of Indigenous Peoples, the reparation of community and advocacy for healthy ecosystems to cultivate Indigenous education and culture in relation with ancestral lands. In partnership with community-based organizations our project leverages twenty years of experience with providing Indigenous education in Los Angeles. NW2C serves as a backbone organization, administrating, convening, and resourcing sustained outreach and educational service coordination to the region’s extraordinarily diverse Native communities. Our goal is to empower the self-determination of Los Angeles area Native American middle and high school students and their families with access to high-quality and culturally relevant educational choices and services that will cultivate a living Indigenous education ecosystem; support their
Native identities within our unique geographical, historical, and cultural context; and create pathways to high school achievement and college enrollment.
The Job
NW2C is seeking a Los Angeles based Outreach and Engagement Coordinator. This person must be deeply committed to the recruitment of Native American students into the NW2C program. They must also be able to develop and maintain relationships with community organizations and members. They will act as a liaison and first point of contact btween NW2C and schools. They will provide presentations about NW2C programs, services and opportunities to students, families and partners in multiple locations. They will be responsible for keeping details records of all contact, time keeping, and schedules. They will also assist the Project and Program Directors in program development and facilitation when needed. Lastly they will be responsible for any assigned tasks and responsibilities they are given that will support NW2C.
We believe in supporting our students academic and cultural success and do our best to support student growth. All applicants should be passionate about working with Native AmericanYouth and should have previous experience tutoring, teaching, counseling, and/or coaching.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Direct student recruitment
- Staff and table Community Outreach events
- Family and student engagement
- Presentations to students, families and partners
- Scheduling Outreach activities throughout the year
- Managing Outreach Plan
- Management and updating of project management sites
- Creating and managing sign in sheets during presentations and programs
- Providing surveys to students and families
- Supporting programming
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in administration, communications or related field
- Highly organized and detail oriented
- Professionalism in all aspects of work areas is required at all times.
- At least 1 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
- Knowledge and understanding of the unique needs and assets of American Indian children and youth.
- Deep understanding and experience working with in the Native American community
- Experience working within Native American education and/or school
- Deep understanding and connection to Native American community in LA County
- Comfortable with Microsoft software and Google
- Collaborative spirit, a willingness and ability to work with a team to reach goals together
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Compensation/Benefits:
- $50,000 - $60,000
- Fulltime, Overtime Exempt, Weekends as needed

Conditions of Employment
- Employees in this job title are subject to the terms and conditions of an employment contract. Employment contracts are typically subject to review and renewal on an annual basis.
