The Finance Manager will work principally with the US Finance Business Partners and their aligned stakeholders to create and maintain high quality financial controllership and insight in support of the US Ventures business. The successful candidate will become a trusted partner to both senior members of the finance team and the Ventures business.
National Grid Ventures is a rapidly evolving business with a small finance team. The successful candidate will operate across a wide range of areas as well as help stakeholders navigate through change and ambiguity at pace.
They will be required to deploy a range of leadership and technical skills in order to solve complex problems and successfully influence a variety of stakeholders.
The Lead Finance Manager will be responsible for leading and delivering a wide range of outcomes in a fast paced, start-up style environment, including:
Technical accounting policies for complex new activities, including venture capital and complex investments.
Design and operate dynamic reporting to enable insight in a rapidly evolving business.
The provision of ad-hoc analysis for senior business stakeholders.
Operation, development and continuous improvement of planning and forecasting processes.
Month end close process (operate and improve).
Business partnering activities to support senior business partners as required.
End to end design and management of financial coding structures in support of evolving business requirements.
Build strong working relationships with a variety of stakeholders and functions.
Undergraduate degree required.
Recognized accountancy qualification (CPA, CGMA or international equivalent) preferred.
Experience (5 years +) in large & high performing organizations.
Experience (5 years+) in accountancy practice (e.g. Big four) strongly desired.
Demonstrated experience in delivery of CEO-ready outputs and proven ability to work with senior leaders in an organization.
Track record of managing and improving complex transactions.
Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills required, understanding of corporate finance, strategic and business planning desired.
Effective communication and organizational skills are necessary for success in this role.
Collaborative consultative style with an inherent sense of balance between strategic thinking and pragmatic action.
Ability to appropriately tailor communication styles (both verbal and written) to convey complex/ambiguous concepts to a wide range of audiences.
Comfortable working in a matrix organization and effectively engaging with multiple stakeholders at various levels in the organization.
