The Simon Wiesenthal Center (SWC) is a global Jewish human rights organization that confronts anti-Semitism, hate, stands with Israel, defends the safety of Jews worldwide, and teaches the lessons of the Holocaust for future generations through its advocacy and Education Programs, investigations, research, reporting, media, films and museums.  Headquartered in Los Angeles the SWC has an international footprint with offices in New York, Chicago, Miami, Toronto, Paris, Berlin, Jerusalem and Buenos Aires is an accredited Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) at the United Nations, UNESCO, the Organization of American States, the Latin American Parliament, and the Council of Europe and maintains relationships with the highest levels of governments throughout the world.  The Museum of Tolerance Los Angeles, founded in 1993, is the educational arm of the SWC.  Moriah Films is the Center’s two-time Academy Award®-winning film division and the Museum of Tolerance Jerusalem is scheduled to open in early 2025.


About the role:


The National Director, Field Education Programs, Museum of Tolerance will work in consultation with MOTLA staff and regional offices to ensure the proper development of educational content for buses and curriculum design, deployment and training for associated workshops.

 

About you:

 

You are passionate about human rights injustices, community and educational engagement, diversity, inclusion, and Holocaust education.

 

You are a school administrator, whose formative years were rooted in classroom education providing you with a profound understanding of the significance of personalized engagement. Your exemplary management skills, coupled with your adeptness in cultivating relationships with educators, government officials, and other stakeholders, underscores your capability to drive impactful change within the educational landscape. Your contributions extend beyond administrative roles, as evidenced by your published works, invitations to speak at national conferences, and esteemed reputation as a thought leader committed to continuous improvement and educational enlightenment.

 

This position will report to the Deputy Director, MOT and coordinate and collaborate with the regional education staff.


Responsibilities:


  • Manage all regional education staff.
  • Review current national literacy standards to continuously improve and iterate MOT content for specific region’s requirements.
  • Develop and implement evaluation rubrics for all programs.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to consider and establish new program ideas for development.
  • Liase with internal teams including development, social action and education and external teams including lobbyists, government agencies to support all aspects of grant reporting.
  • Work closely with the communications department to maximize national exposure for Education Programs.
  • Work with leadership to prepare and report on the organization’s national Education Programs.
  • Engage and lead MOT discussion and tours with donors and other stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Experiences and Skills:


  • 7 – 10 years experience as a public or charter school administrator or similar.
  • Government and media relations experience a plus.
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Grant and budget management experience.
  • Curriculum design and development experience.
  • Ability to work independently as well as provide supporting role for the team.
  • High degree of flexibility and can adapt easily to changing environment and tasks.
  • Ability to undertake multiple tasks and determine the level of priority.
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized.
  • Personality profile to fit into a safe, inclusive, open and collaborative culture that requires teamwork and significant interaction with employees at all levels.
