Mortgage Underwriting Specialist - Staunton, VA

Park Lane Finance Solutions, one of The Caton Companies, provides affordable financing for purchasing new and used manufactured homes and rent-to-own sheds. We have an exciting opportunity for a Mortgage Underwriting Specialist at our corporate office in Staunton, Virginia.

The primary function of the Mortgage Underwriting Specialist is to ensure the timely and accurate underwriting of all Manufactured Home loan applications received by Park Lane. The Underwriting Specialist also collects, reviews, and clears loan conditions per Park Lane Originations and Underwriting Guidelines.

Preference will be given to candidates with fluency in English and Spanish.

Essential Functions

• Request and Review applicant conditions needed for final loan approval.
• Analyze loan risk and request additional information as necessary.
• Review and specify loan conditions as necessary.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and guidelines.
• Coordinate and communicate with Loan Officers as necessary.
• Make loan eligibility decisions and approve or reject loan applications.
• Provide Loan Officers with daily updates on completeness of loan conditions.
• Review property inspections and condition reports for possible needed repairs.
• Review loan applications and attached documentation for completeness and accuracy
• Maintain (electronic) folders/files/records in an organized manner
• Follow all state and federal lending laws with respect to fair lending and privacy laws
• File, scan, and organize applicant and borrower paper and electronic files
• Correct mistakes and investigate inconsistencies
• Submit completed loan files to Loan Officers for review.
• Responsible for ensuring that all loan documentation is complete, accurate, verified, and complies with company policy.
• Assist President, Vice President, and Loan Operations Manager in gathering and analyzing company loan data
• Perform other tasks as may be assigned by supervisor

Required Education and Experience
· Associates or Bachelor’s Degree
· Mortgage Industry or retail banking (loan processing) a plus
