Mortgage Loan Underwriter III (USDA & FHA DE)

We are currently seeking applicants for a Mortgage Loan Underwriter III, USDA & FHA DE experience required.
Qualified Candidates responsibilities will be:
- Verify and analyze all information in the loan file for completeness, accuracy, and integrity.
- Review loan file documents for integrity and make credit decisions based on relevant credit history, employment data and any other pertinent information, request additional information from customers as necessary.
- Input data and balance that data to all automated underwriting systems, including DU, LPA and GUS.
- Review title commitments to insure clear title on proposed property; request corrections to title commitments when necessary.
- Review all appraisals to confirm that collateral supports loan amount and Loan-to-Value requested.
- Prepare loan approvals with clear conditioning.
- Set up files for accurate shipping to investor.
- Clear any post-closing conditions requested by the investor for loan purchase.
- Meet departmental goals and standards as set by supervisor.
- Provide training and guidance to processors and closers as necessary.
- Support Senior Underwriters and Managers as needed.
- Other projects/duties as assigned by supervisor.
Candidates preferred experience and skills:
- Bank’s secondary market policies and procedures
- Other bank policies and procedures as they apply to the secondary market lending function.
- Current secondary market requirements and regulations
- Work well independently as well as within a team environment
- Quickly adapt when changes are required
- Work within a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
- Maintain integrity at all times under all circumstances.
- This is a Remote position; applicant must possess the ability to stay on task without constant supervision and minimize distractions.
Enter Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED, some college preferred.
- 5 or more years’ experience as a Secondary Market Loan Underwriter
- Must hold FHA DE Designation with active CHUMS ID
- Accuracy, attention to detail and organizational skills; time management skills
- Basic keyboarding skills and the ability to navigate in a Windows environment.
- Excellent communication skills & organizational skills
- Ability to learn mortgage software via online trainings and reviewing product training documents.
- Must have basic knowledge of conventional purchase/refinance guidelines.
- Encompass LOS experience preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook and Teams
This position reports to the National Mortgage Underwriting Manager.
