Job Summary
Encouraging and equipping children, youth and their families to pass on or grow in faith through building and coaching teams that create education, fellowship, and service opportunities through Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Fairfax and Clifton, Virginia.
Educational and Experiential Requirements:
1. A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is essential, preferably in education or another similar field. Master’s degree in education is a plus.
2. Experience serving successfully in ministry with children, youth, and their families (volunteer or staff) or an applicable context with children and youth.
3. A minimum of 5 years of congregational involvement as a member, volunteer, or staff.
4. Theological education, training, and/or ministry certification is desirable.

Essential Functions:
1. Build and support lay empowered ministry teams to develop and implement strategic plans for educational and relational programs for Children and youth such as Journey (Sunday School), Vacation Bible School, Family Programs, Community Events, Confirmation, High Youth Group, and others.
2. Provide opportunities to equip children, youth, and parents to talk about, experience, and live out their faith in God.
3. Help develop and maintain Child Safety Policies. Track and train leaders on policies according to church policy. Ensure all volunteers are clear and update background checks every 2 years.
4. Collaborate with Lord of Life preschools to provide age-appropriate Biblical lessons during Chapel and in the classrooms.
5. Be present Sundays to welcome and encourage families and to oversee programming for Children and youth. As needed, assist with teaching and discipline problems. Provide training and scheduling for teachers.
6. Research, select, purchase, and maintain educational materials.
7. Provide ways to welcome children and youth into the worship space. Encourage them to be part of worship.
8. Effectively manage monetary resources necessary for the fulfillment of this ministry.
9. Communicate and publicize educational opportunities in the weekly email (Lifelines), the children and youth websites, and newsletters to families, volunteers, and the congregation.
10. Hire, supervise, schedule, and communicate with personnel serving as staff for the church nursery. Provide necessary training at appropriate times (CPR/AED, First Aid, and background checks every two years).
11. Participate fully with the staff, attend staff meetings, and participate in staff-related events.
12. Maintain relationships with children, youth, and families through check-ins and other communications.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
