Mig Welder Opportunities on 1st and 2nd Shift
Typical Hours:
1st Shift (6am-4:30pm)
2nd Shift (5pm-3:30am)
Starting Pay:
1st Shift: $19.06/hour
2nd Shift: $22.56/hour ($3.50/hour shift differential)
SUMMARY
Welds together metal components of products such as pipelines, automobiles, boilers, ships, aircraft, and mobile homes with electric arc-welding equipment by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ability to properly weld metal components to form an assembly.
- Ability to read and identify critical features of a part print as well as weld symbols. Use of measuring instruments (tapes, calipers etc).
- Ability to set weld parameters on the mig controls such as heat, wire speed, and burn back rate.
- Knowledge of how the mig gun is assembled, ie tip, diffuser, nozzle etc.
- Knowledge of wire feed system for a mig gun.
- Identifying weld fixtures that need repair or preventative maintenance.
- Identifying problems with part quality that affect ability to weld assemblies.
- Ability to work as a team member in a group setting, such as a work cell (cross training ability).
- Follow and adhere to safety rules and regulations, employee handbook to be included (housekeeping, rules etc).
- Process sheets for the production of parts.
- Other duties may be assigned as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
