Job Description
Accomplished candidate will fill welding role with mechanical contractor in Memphis area for local work (vast majority of work is within 2-hour radius of Memphis, TN). Primary role will be TIG and stick welding of pipe and structural fabrications in field environments. Most work will be industrial jobsite centered within chemical plants and food plants with limited shop work at West Memphis office. Typical AJR pipe welding projects include ½”-12” diameter stainless and carbon steel in schedules 10 and 40 with additional schedule 80 and sanitary tube fab opportunities. In addition to welding, position will also include piping and structural layout, installations, and demo along with other typical mechanical contractor work. While focus will be spent on welding requirements, when welding activities are not needed candidate must be open to all field work responsibilities typical of a mechanical contractor.
Welder will be tested and certified in one or more of the following based of their abilities:
• GTAW, 6G test with 2” diameter carbon steel mega coupon
• SMAW, 6G test with 6” diameter carbon steel schedule 80 pipe section
• FCAW, 2G/3G test with ½” carbon steel plate
• Dependable transportation to and from jobsites
• Ability to be on-time on consistent basis
• Clean drug test at time of hire plus random drug testing
• Basic trade-specific hand tools (AJR provides all other tools and equipment)
• Flexibility to work overtime (most overtime opportunities are voluntary but occasional overtime may be required based on specific project timelines)
