Aluminum/Stainless/Steel - MIG and TIG WELDER
SUMMARY
Under some degree of direction by the supervisor, the welder/fitter produces completed weldments and other structures by using raw material, welding machines and engineering supplied blue prints to meet the production goals in accordance with company policies and procedures. This position requires an individual with a high degree of experience with a detailed quality oriented mind.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include but are not limited to the following, other duties may be applied;
Work with supervisors and managers to ensure all customer expectations and requirements are met per each job specification by having the following:
Comply to Company and OSHA safety standards
Ability to properly operate welding equipment such as filler rods, valves, gas cylinders and MIG & TIG equipment
Ability to read and interpret blueprint drawings, sheet metal drawings, customer drawings, diagrams, welds symbols and other instructional materials proficiently
Ability to interpret tolerances on customer drawings and weld parts within tolerances
Ability to use Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (TIG) and/or Metal Inert Gas (MIG) to weld aluminum sheet metal, mild steel and stainless steel from 1/8\" thru 1/4\" plate and extrusion
Ability to lay a cosmetic weld with good fusion, penetration and strength integrity that meets applicable codes
Ability to build fixtures that assist in welding part(s) to conform to required position
Work efficiently and independently while also demonstrating a willingness to work within a team environment
Work with quality control inspectors to meet or exceed the needs of the customer
Meet pre-determined per piece weld times
Willingness to cross-train and perform the work of other job tasks in addition to the primary assigned position
Must be familiar with hand tools and have the ability to use safely such as; die grinders, metal grinders, sanders, drills, and other hand tools related to the jobs needs
Must be able to meet critical shipping due dates
Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
Ability to obtain certification to operate powered industrial trucks (PIT) and overhead cranes
Has the Authority and Responsibility to report non-conforming product

QUALIFICATIONS
- Mechanically adept
- Attention to detail
- Strong understanding of welding techniques, concepts, practices and procedures
- Positive, willingness to learn and participate in a changing environment to reach a common goal
- Ability to prioritize and work under schedule demands
- Good communication skills
- Computer literate
- Ability to read all necessary measuring instruments
- Ability to read and interpret specifications
- Knowledge of shop practices and operations
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
A high school diploma or equivalent preferred along with;
Three (3) to five (5) years' experience in MIG and TIG welding
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to document data in the English language
Ability to effectively communicate with other employees regarding work instructions or answers inquiries from groups of supervisors and/or managers
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variable in situations where only limited standardization exists
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Ability to define problems and draw valid conclusions
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS American Welding Society (AWS) qualifications to D12 a plus
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this position, the tasks require the welder to constantly remain in a stationary position; occasionally to frequently bend at the waist and/or twisting
Must be able from seldom to occasionally move/traverse around the work area
Must be able to constantly operate standard welding equipment
Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 - 30 pounds

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
The environment is primarily a typical welding environment with some degree of a fabrication environment
While the buildings have vent systems, welding assignments do create additional heat
There is some limited exposure to physical risk
PPE REQUIREMENTS
Eye protection required in all areas of the production floor
ANSI approved welder hoods required while welding
Approved safety shoes/boots with toe protection are required within production areas
Hearing protection equipment required while on the production floors
Other PPE such as gloves are required based on the task at hand
