Title: Mid-level Archaeologist-Environmental Planner

Location: Seattle, Tacoma

Job Type: Regular Full-time


What’s the Opportunity?

Anchor QEA is seeking a full-time Archaeologist and Environmental Planner for one of our offices in Washington state (Seattle or Tacoma). The position will require regular archaeological field work and may also require some travel to participate in client meetings, public meetings, and stakeholder work groups. The successful candidate will have more than 5 years of experience performing archaeological investigations, environmental review, permitting, and collaborative science- and policy-based planning for a variety of natural and built resource projects. This includes demonstrated experience conducting regulatory and technical analyses in support of federal and/or state environmental policy acts; preparing technical documents in support of federal, state, and local environmental regulations; and developing and reviewing documents, status reports, and deliverables. We are interested in a candidate who is collaborative, detail-orientated, and a team player with strong written and verbal communication skills.


Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience in archaeological investigations, environmental planning, and compliance. Skills include:

  • Leading and reviewing technical documentation in support of consultations under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act.
  • Developing study plans for cultural resources investigations and overseeing field teams
  • Supporting preparation of State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) and/or National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation for public or private institutions
  • Supporting environmental compliance strategies and preparing documentation to comply with federal, state, and local environmental regulations
  • Managing tasks, including overseeing field teams
  • Developing and managing scopes, schedules, budgets
  • Interfacing with clients, agencies, other consultants, and the public

Experience with the following is a plus:

  • Supporting interagency and tribal government collaboration efforts and regulatory agreements
  • Conducting habitat assessments and special status habitat inventories

What Are We Looking For?

Ideal candidates will have the following:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in anthropology, archaeology, or a closely related field
  • Experienced in developing environmental documentation related to SEPA and/or NEPA compliance and associated consultations
  • Credentials that meet Secretary of Interior’s Standard for Archaeology and Historic Preservation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication

Salary and Other Compensation:

  • Salary Range: $86,000 - $96,000 annually
  • Annual Bonus
  • Other potential bonus types: Billable Time Bonus, Spot Bonus, Milestone Anniversary Bonus, Receiving Professional License/Certification Bonus, Peer-reviewed Publication Bonus, Employee Referral Bonus.

Base Level Benefits for Regular Full-Time Positions:

  • Paid Company and Floating Holidays: 7 paid company and 2 floating holidays annually
