Position Summary:
The Microbiology Laboratory Technician conducts qualitative and quantitative microbiological testing of raw materials, in-process materials, finished goods, and post-sanitation sampling for the company.
Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:
- Collect microbiological sampling of beverages, syrups, raw materials, and sanitation effectiveness swabbing
- Utilize Aseptic Technique to prevent sample contamination
- Conduct sample plating, incubation, monitoring, and reading to ensure production complies
- Ensure proper operations and if not, follow escalation process
- Manage microbiological laboratory supplies inventory, housekeeping, and in-house verifications of temperature and air monitoring devices
- Submit samples to external laboratories as directed for additional analysis
- Maintain confidential records and participate in external audits to ensure compliance
- Complete inspections and internal audits as required throughout the year
- Other projects or duties as assigned
Required Skills and Experience:
- High School Diploma/GED and 0 to 1 plus years prior production/manufacturing, microbiological lab, or lab technician experience
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to read, write, and keep records
- Proficient Microsoft Office skills, i.e., Word, Excel, etc., and good computer skills
- Experience with lab safety and handling of hazardous materials
- This position must pass a post-offer background and drug test
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Food and/or beverage industry experience
- Microbiological Sampling experience
- Plating experience
