Job Summary and Qualifications
Under direction of the Director of Compliance and Systems Engineering, the MHE Fleet Mechanic Manager will lead all routine preventive and non-routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs of the HCA Lakeland MHE fleet. They will ensure safe and reliable operation, diagnose, service and repair a variety of MHE (reach, sit-down, swing trucks, order pickers, etc.), by studying electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic system requirements, conducting tests and resolving problems. The MHE Fleet Mechanic Manager shall also be responsible for all documentation of the MHE Battery and Charger Program.
Major Responsibilities:
- Hire, train, coach and motivate all direct reports.
- Conduct annual associate evaluations and issue corrective action reports as needed.
- Supervise employees and/or contractors for specific projects.
- Establish partnerships and build vendor relationships.
- Create and implement schedules to cover all shifts.
- Ability to work a standard and on-call schedule.
- Track and report all KPIs, MTTR, MTBF, MTTF, etc.
- Implement and maintain an MHE Preventive Maintenance Program.
- Maintain and update all MHE contracts as needed.
- Prepare and submit daily and weekly reports to the Director of Engineer on the status and readiness of all MHE.
- Read and understand electrical and hydraulic schematics.
- Analyze MHE parts inventory and maintain readily available long-lead and known high-failure parts.
- Use hand tools and utilize computer electronic systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs.
- Utilize various dealer computer systems to track and document all warranty work.
- Hands-on repair experience on various MHE equipment brands and models, including Raymond, Yale and Crown.
- Inspect, diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems of various MHE equipment.
- Routine checks of hydraulic fluid levels, tire wear, the condition of the forks, drive control, steering and brakes.
- Check, adjust, replacing all belts and chains as needed.
- Remove and replace electric drive motors and controls.
- Hands-on experience working with mechanical systems, transmissions, drive units, differentials, braking systems, telescopic masts, reach mechanisms, steering systems, suspension systems, etc.
- Hands-on experience working with controls and electric AC/DC low voltage, single-phase and 3-phase power.
- Lubricate MHE and perform other duties in connection with preventive maintenance and operation as required.
- Replace as needed, work broken parts, adjust brakes, tighten body bolts, align wheels, etc.
- Maintain high awareness of technical changes in the industry.
- Attend training sessions as required.
- Experience in MHE battery charger repair.
- Implement a preventive maintenance, washing and equalization program for MHE batteries.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines, ensuring the highest safety standards are met.
- Review, track, close-out and report all Work Orders.
- Track, document and report all estimates, material costs and requisitions for new parts
- Ability to safely operate various lift trucks.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Ability to delegate and manage workloads independently.
- Obtain HCA certification to operate all forklifts in accordance with OSHA standards.
- Must be willing to work overtime, nights, and weekends, as needed.
Education and Certifications:
- High School Graduate or GED equivalency. Preferred
- 5-7 years relevant MHE maintenance work experience. Preferred
- Technical degree. Preferred
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office. Required
- Bi-lingual Spanish speaker a plus. Preferred
- Ability to communicate and understand English Required
- MHE Certifications Preferred
- Automotive Repair Certifications Preferred
- Single and 3-Phase Electrical Experience Required
