Responsibilities:
- Conduct finite element analysis (FEA) with commercial software like COMSOL or Abaqus to model, simulate, and refine real-world devices.
- Design models in SolidWorks, employing "Design for Additive Manufacturing (DFAM)" principles.
- Develop system- and subsystem-coupled models that integrate experimental data and adhere to physical constraints, collaborating with system engineers to optimize overall system design.
- Provide recommendations to laboratory engineers for experimentation through simulation work.
- Communicate insights effectively from simulations to both peers and leaders.
- Brief internal and external customers on simulation results.
- Prepare comprehensive documentation outlining the methods used for modeling and simulating designs.
- Craft grant proposals and patent disclosures.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering field, with a minimum of 2 years of research experience in computational modeling, physics, or a related discipline.
- Proficient in multiphysics modeling tools like COMSOL or Abaqus and in computer-aided drafting (CAD) tools like SolidWorks.
- Experience in electromagnetism, solid mechanics, heat transfer, and FEA.
- Experience in Design for Additive Manufacturing (DFAM).
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
