Job Description: Job Summary

The Manager Business Process Optimization invests in our Purpose by leading the Technical Operations (Tech Ops) Process Optimization and innovation Team, which includes identifying and resolving deficiencies in existing processes, methods, and technology. This role is expected to define industry leading solutions to improve operational methods and reduce the operational costs in Tech Ops and partnering Departments. The Manager Business Process Optimization is a strong communicator , who is ready to drive the future of Southwest’s Technical Operations.

Responsibilities
Lead the Technical Operations business optimization Team to establish a roadmap of long-term and near-term plans, and align the Team appropriately through input, prioritization, and execution
Foster productive relationships with all Southwest Airlines operational groups while leading a high-performing Team
Work collaboratively with business customers to understand contextual problems quickly, and define, analyze, and deliver innovative solutions that address business opportunities supporting the Technical Operations strategic priorities
Direct the workload and assignment of Operational Process Partners and Operational Consultants, providing support, growth opportunities, and resources as needed
Coordinate with SMEs in the development, creation, and documentation of processes developed through continuous improvement activities
Remain informed and up to date regarding initiatives, federal regulations, and any other factors that may dictate changes in strategy and operational activities
Work with business groups to translate industry trends and opportunities into objectives, well-defined plans, priorities, and assignments
Ensure Employees provide consistent, clear, timely, and accurate performance data, as well as insight to drive the fleet to the highest level of reliability
Ensure departmental compliance with the Southwest Safety Management System (SMS)
Recruit, develop, and retain individuals with the skills, attitude, and experience necessary to achieve goals/commitments
Recognize achievements and advocate for career growth of employees
Build a bench using mentorship, stretch opportunities, and training plans
Create an environment where debate, dialogue, and diversity of thought are encouraged
Foster high morale, integrity, trust, and teamwork
Perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders

Effectively and efficiently manages multiple projects and priorities under tight deadlines and heavy regulation
Skilled in Continuous Improvement methods to identify areas for improvement and provide leadership input for ongoing process, tool, communication, and training advancements
Thinks strategically and understands the relationship between current actions and future consequences
Translates broad objectives into specific action plans, working collaboratively to achieve organizational goals
Able to listen to, understand, and communicate ideas presented in writing or verbally
Identifies complex problems and reviews related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
Manages sensitive situations while maintaining confidentiality
Can develop People, build great Teams, think strategically, and set a clear direction
Able to manage multiple concurrent tasks with frequent interruptions
Able to travel and represent SWA at industry meetings/conferences and routine Southwest station visits Education
Required: High School Diploma or GED
Required: Bachelor's Degree in Aviation, Engineering, Business or related field (may substitute experience in transport aircraft maintenance management in lieu of Bachelor's Degree)
Experience
Demonstrated experience in directly or indirectly leading a Team(s)
Fully functioning, broad knowledge in:
Growing and mentoring skills and abilities across a diverse Team
Building and growing a new capability, including driving and managing change
Solving ambiguous and complex problems through a systems thinking approach
Identification of tools, processes, and the associated capabilities that can deliver improved business methods and/or reduced costs
Presentation and visualization platforms (Tableau, etc.)
Licensing/Certification
Must be able to obtain a SIDA (Secured Identification Display Area) badge and meet all local airport requirements
Physical Abilities
Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
Other Qualifications
Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
Willing to work flexible schedule as needed, including overnight and weekends approximately 15% of the time
Must meet confidentiality expectations as to confidential, proprietary, and sensitive Company information
Pay & Benefits:
Competitive market salary from $130,750 per year to $145,300 per year* depending on qualifications and experience, with opportunity for future pay increases based on performance and market movement. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the Company.
