Seeking Entry level Technician with 2-year associate degree in electrical/electronic technology or equivalent education.
Basic Electrical Concepts will be expanded in this entry level Lab environment preprograming and calibrating repairing electrical equipment for American Electric Power.
Become a member of a technical team inspecting electric metering for calibrated registration, inspection, testing, programing, as needed.
This can include equipment as related to electric consumption via metering and instrument transformers with the construction of cluster racks. Test and calibrate to authenticate accuracy of all test equipment, etc. Perform troubleshooting, testing, calibration, and modifying of various equipment, instrumentation, and control systems.
Work with computers and various software that support the Operation.
Maintain and create technical documentation for equipment. Attend and successfully complete internal/external training courses determined by the Company to maintain/build technical capabilities.
Under semi-close supervision, inspect, test, program, service, pack and prepare for transport measurement equipment and other equipment as assigned. Equipment can include, but is not limited to: meters, instrument transformers, cluster racks, test switches, test equipment, etc.
Full time position - working week days
Overtime as needed
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS are listed below:
1.) Test, adjust, repair and program all types of single phase, network and poly phase kwh and kwh/kw meters. The demand portion includes mechanical, electronic and other types.
2.) Assist in the testing and maintain all electronic metering equipment as assigned.
3.) Check company inventory regularly and assist in maintaining adequate stock of meters and other equipment. Participate in annual physical meter inventory.

Approximately two years' experience as a Meter Lab Electrician C in order to obtain the required skill and knowledge of the higher-level job.
Required License(s)/Certification(s) are listed below:

Physical demand level is Medium
1) Must have safe work habits and adhere to all safety rules and practices of the Company. 2) Must successfully complete all job demonstrations and examinations associated with the Meter Electrician C classification. 3) Work productively and function effectively in a team environment. 4) Must have a good working knowledge of single phase and polyphase metering, AEP metering practices, advanced metering schemes and concepts. 5) Must be willing to work overtime as required by job responsibilities. 6) Must acquire within such time frame as determined by the Company, the qualifications necessary to perform the duties of the next higher classification in the line of progression or vacate the current job classification. 7) Must maintain certification to safely operate fork trucks, stackers / hi-lift, pallet jacks, etc. in the day-to-day performance of the job. 8) Must be able to hear spoken words via telephone, cell phone or during individual or group meetings. 9) Must be physically capable of performing all the essential physical functions of the position and have the ability to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to progress to higher levels of this job family.
