Job Summary:
MEP Project Manager is to lead the effort in coordinating and managing the infrastructure construction projects. This candidate will work with the project team to ensure the successful completion of all MEP trade work and project completion.
Essential Functions:
- Estimate project costs and scope but not limited to MEP equipment and labor, NJDOH, enabling cost, etc.
- Understand the NJDCA and NJDOH process for filing a project
- Working knowledge of NJDOH regulations, FGI, NFPA 101, NFPA 99, NFPA 70 and IBC
- Review contract documents ensuring compliance to RWJBH P&P’s and bring the contract to a final agreement.
- Manage and lead MEP subcontractors throughout the project (from Groundbreaking through Commissioning and Turnover to Owner).
- Develop construction schedule and ensure hospital input in all areas of the schedule.
- Work with facilities and corporate facilities on project logistics.
- Review and approve materials and equipment for MEP systems before installation.
- Monitor the installation and start-up of MEP systems and commissioning of the project with Engineer and Owner.
- Coordinate activities, materials procurement, and other related activities.
- Communicate progress and prepare appropriate reports as needed.
- Represent facilitate regarding the project process at weekly Owners and contractors meetings.
- Supervise, develop and mentor project staff, if applicable.
- Responsible for the project completion and budget.
- Supervise review and coordination of submittals and shop drawings
- Manage equipment quality including review of specifications, bid analysis, PO’s, submittals, freight/logistics, care/custody, protection, installation, startup, commissioning.
- Responsible to directly manage the safety, quality and conformance of all MEP scope on the construction project.
- Support preconstruction activities to ensure consistency with other projects.
- Ensures all field installations are in review and value Engineering into the design process.
- Validate that drawings and specifications accurately reflect the desired construction quality and scope.
- Perform periodic site inspections and report any construction issues uncovered or conditions that could affect the operational reliability of the facility. This includes meeting participation to ensure smooth coordination and tracking of issue resolution.
- Ensure all field contractors and suppliers are following safety best practices
- Must have a current, valid-state issues driver’s license.
- Establish a positive working relationship with the project design and construction teams, both internal and external to the client organization. Establishes a clear line of communication between the operations and construction and commissioning teams, along with the proper protocols for issue identification and resolution.
- Expert knowledge of critical facility operational requirements.
- Strong understanding of the commissioning process and requirements.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- 10+ years of construction experience in infrastructure projects with working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and plumbing; preferable in healthcare.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
- Background in MEP Construction and knowledge of MEP Construction means and methods.
- Expertise in working around energized electrical work, control of hazardous energies, proper PPE for the task, and lockout/tag out procedures. Comprehension of critical-path schedule development, management of trade performance and productivity.
- Proficient with computers to include the utilizations of Microsoft – Outlook, Work, Excel, PowerPoint, work front and eBuilder.
- Able to work in a team environment. Even-tempered and able to work through conflict with others.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Familiarity with construction sites and hazards and the ability to navigate projects sites safely.
- Primarily walking, standing and bending with some sitting.
- Able to hear and speak into a telephone
- Close visual work on a computer terminal.
- Able to climb a ladder and work on raised platform.
WORK CONDITION
- 50% Standard Office 50% construction jobsite at various levels of development.
- Must be willing to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, late nights, holidays and on-call support.
