POSITION SUMMARY
The Medicare Cost Report Specialist will be responsible for preparing and managing the Medicare/Medi-Cal Cost Reports required by healthcare providers participating in the Medicare/Medi-Cal program. The Medicare Cost Report Specialist will work in conjunction with Controller and Chief Financial Officer to ensure that Cost Reports for multiple Med-Surg Hospitals, LTAC Hospitals, CAHs and Rural Health Clinics comply with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) regulations.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, healthcare administration.
- Experience in healthcare finance, specifically with a focus on Cost report preparation and Medicare reimbursement.
- Familiarity with CMS regulations and guidelines related to Medicare Cost Reporting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Knowledge of Medicare regulations and reimbursement methodologies.
- Financial analysis in a healthcare setting.
- Understanding of cost allocation principles.
- Proficiency in spreadsheet and Cost Reporting software
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collect and validate financial and statistical data from various departments within the healthcare organization.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of data in accordance with Medicare regulations and guidelines.
- Prepare and submit annual Medicare/Medi-Cal Cost Reports in compliance with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) regulations.
- Compile information related to allowable costs, reimbursement, and financial performance.
- Maintain accurate and organized documentation supporting the information presented in the Medicare Cost Reports.
- Prepare and organize documentation for audits and reviews.
- Collaborate with internal teams to provide training and guidance on internal control for effective Cost Reporting & documents requirements.
