WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING...
- The Plant Medical Technician is responsible for taking care of medical associated needs of plant employees, performing minor medical treatment, as well as acting as a 1st Responder. This person will also provide support and assistance to the safety department as directed by Safety Manager and Safety Supervisor.
- Coordinate and manage all aspects of health services.
- Assess and provide emergency care/treatment for team members, contractors, and visitors for injury or illness sustained at work in accordance with established medical protocols.
- Maintain workers compensation information for claims, schedule doctor visits, and transportation.
- Coordinate and perform pre-employment physicals and drug testing (post-offer, accident, and random in compliance with plant policy.
- Develop and implement plans and tactics achieving desired outcomes regarding employee health and wellness (i.e., health assessments, immunization programs, medical care, treatment, follow-up, delivery of health and wellness education and counseling, etc.).
- Maintain positive ongoing relationship with local occupational health clinic, ensuring alignment with conservative treatment protocols, and delivery of appropriate medical treatment.
- Support plant and corporate incident data management, tracking processes and systems.
- Manage plant's return-to-work process, working closely with supervisors to find meaningful work with prescribed medical restrictions.
- Manage hearing conservation, heat stress, respiratory protection and ergonomics programs including development and delivery of employee training.
- Lead ergonomic efforts minimizing related occupational injuries/illnesses.
- All other relevant duties to the job.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO THE TEAM...
- All applicants with current Medical Certifications/Licenses (EMT, CNA, LPN, etc.) will be considered.
- First aid and CPR/AED Certified.
- Current Driver's License.
- 3+ years of experience in occupational health, preferably within a related environment.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Willingness to work within a production/plant environment.
- Ensure confidentiality of employee health information while communicating necessary information.
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn OSHA, ADA, FMLA regulations.
- Self-starter with ability to work with limited supervision.
- Excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills.
THE ENVIRONMENT YOU CAN EXPECT...
- Typical office environment within a plant setting.
- Use of computer, telephone and other office equipment.
- May encounter frequent interruptions throughout the workday.
- Regularly required to sit, talk, and listen.
- Repetitive hand motions, and occasional standing, walking, reaching, and lifting up to 20 lbs.
- Exposure to noise levels greater than 85 decibels.
- Exposure to strong, raw meat odor.
