Summary:
The Medical Services Specialist provides administrative and customer service support to patients and their families. This includes tasks such as patient registration, scheduling appointments, insurance verification, and billing. The Medical Services Specialist also provides information and assistance to patients and their families about the healthcare facility and its services. We are seeking serious candidates with a passion for healthcare and patient care. We are seeking CAREER-minded individuals, NOT job-seekers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage the patient flow and workflow of documentation
- Stay up-to-date on medical terminology and procedures.
- Maintain a direct line of communication with company Technologists
- Add and update patient educational information
- Manage patient wait times.
- Collect patient information and track registration forms accurately and confidentially.
- Tracking and managing patient billing information
- Ordering and maintaining medical supplies
- Scheduling and coordinating transportation for patients
- Go above and beyond to provide excellent customer service to patients, addressing any concerns or issues they may have.
- Verify insurance coverage and ensure that patients are aware of their financial responsibility.
- Answer patient inquiries in a clear and concise manner, providing information about the healthcare facility and its services.
- Assist patients with check-in and check-out procedures, ensuring that they are comfortable and informed throughout their visit.
- Create and maintain reports on patient demographics, appointment scheduling, and other data.
- Complete data entry and other administrative tasks as needed.
- Work with other departments to ensure the smooth flow of patient care.
- Be willing to take on additional duties as assigned.
- Follow all safety and security procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's OR Associates degree in a related field, such as healthcare administration, business administration, a healthcare related major or customer service.
- 7+ years of experience in a healthcare setting, or customer service experience in a related field.
- Expertise in using healthcare software and systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, both verbal and written.
- Professional demeanor.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
- Proficiency in using computer systems and software and accounting software.
- Ability to handle stressful situations and maintain a positive attitude.
