Sun River Health is currently seeking a full-time Medical Scribe supporting the Church Avenue Center located in Brooklyn, NY.
Medical Scribes are individuals trained in medical documentation who assist a physician throughout their shift. The primary goal of the Medical Scribe is to increase the efficiency and the productivity of the physician they are working for. Under the supervision of the VP of Practice Management, the Medical Scribe will be responsible for capturing accurate and detailed documentation of the medical encounter into the Electronic Medical Record (eClinical Works) in a timely manner. He/She will provide excellent customer service to our patients, adhering to established protocols and work processes and successfully managing volume without ever compromising quality.
Brief Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a Medical Scribe:
- Must be able to anticipate physician needs to facilitate the flow of clinic.
- Provide the highest quality customer service to patients.
- Adheres to practice protocols and processes.
- Ability to listen to complex medical information and summarize in a clear, complete, and concise fashion.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy/physiology, diagnostic procedures, pharmacology, and treatment assessments to the extent required to understand and accurately transcribe dictated reports.
- Translate medical observations into their expanded forms.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- This position will have some involvement in direct patient care. Must be discreet, tactful, and unobtrusive in performance of duties so as not to distract physician or other care team members from patient care. Good attendance is an important element of this job.
Minimum Education Requirement: High School Diploma
Preferred Education Requirement: Associate's Degree
Minimum Related Work Experience: 2-4 years
Preferred Certification Requirements: Certification as Medical Scribe Professional (CMSP), Medical Coding Training or Certification, Experience with use of ECW - E-clinical works.
