Bloomfield Hills Dermatology practice seeks a motivated, dependable, team oriented office assistant to work in our fast-paced and energized specialty practice.
Must be self-motivated and able multi-task while upholding our vision to provide compassionate service and exceptional care for our patients.
This position is primarily answering patient phone calls, scheduling appointments, managing provider schedules and referrals, although there may be an opportunity to learn additional positions.
As the first point of contact for patients and other callers to our office, must use excellent customer service and phone etiquette techniques to answer incoming calls, book patient appointments and interact with other doctor’s offices.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
· Excellent command of the English language: grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
· Skilled in using a variety of computer programs and applications.
· Ability to listen, read, understand, and follow oral, and written instruction.
· Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
· Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with employees, physicians, fellow employees, and managers.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
· Welcomes patients/clients/visitors, upon arrival, and directs them accordingly.
· Facilitates patient flow and communicates delays with patients and clinical staff.
· Uses customer service principles and techniques to communicate with patients calmly and pleasantly.
· Explains financial requirements to the patients or responsible parties, obtains accurate billing information from patients.
· Helps our patients regarding office information, physician information, appointments, and ensures patients’ demographic and insurance information is accurate and up to date.
· Collects copays, and patient balances, providing information regarding them, based on collections protocol.
· Responsible for insurance billing, and other financial transactions.
· Responsible for keeping the reception and patient waiting areas, and office files, clean and organized.
· Monitors medical office supplies and inventory needs, places orders, and oversees office equipment.
· Schedules appointments according to established policies and protocols.
Clinic hours are Monday through Friday 8 – 4. No nights and no weekends!
