Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and personable individual to join Monarch Pediatrics as a Medical Receptionist. The ideal candidate will be the first point of contact for patients and their families, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a smooth and efficient front desk operation. This role involves managing patient appointments, verifying insurance, handling inquiries, and maintaining accurate medical records. Our pediatric Medical Receptionists play a crucial role in creating a welcoming and friendly environment for our young patients.
Responsibilities:
1. Patient Check-In/Check-Out:
- Greet patients and their families with a warm and friendly demeanor.
- Collect and verify patient demographic and insurance information during check-in, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Assist with registration form completion (HIPPA, arbitration, consent-to-treat).
- Collect co-pays for services, verify balances, provide accurate receipts.
- Schedule and confirm appointments and manage the check-out process efficiently.
2. Phone and Messaging Communication:
- Answer phone calls promptly and professionally, addressing inquiries or directing calls to the appropriate staff.
- Respond to secure patient messages in a timely manner and assist with patient communication as needed.
- Contact patients on the recall list to schedule routine appointments.
3. Medical Records Management:
- Maintain and update patient records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Assist with the filing and retrieval of medical records as required.
4. Insurance Verification:
- Verify insurance information for patients and assist with billing inquiries.
- Work closely with insurance providers to ensure accurate and timely claims processing.
5. Administrative Support:
- Provide administrative support to medical staff as needed. Tasks may include, but are not limited to, data entry, faxing, scanning, mailing, and other clerical tasks.
- Maintain a tidy and organized reception area.
6. Patient Education:
- Provide basic information to patients and their families about office procedures, policies, and available services.
Qualifications:
1. Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent high school certification.
- Additional education or certification in healthcare administration is desirable.
2. Certification:
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or completion within 6 months of hire.
3. Requirements:
- Maintain required HIPAA compliance and skills/competencies. Participate in in-services, staff programs, continuing education, and cross-training programs according to established standards and Washington University policies.
- Comply with OSHA, state, and federal regulatory sources/standards.
- Participate in quality improvement activities to ensure appropriate clinical outcomes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Employment is conditioned upon successful completion of a reference check, criminal background check, and/or drug screen.
4. Experience:
- Previous experience in a healthcare/medical office setting preferred.
- Prior experience in pediatrics preferred.
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record preferred.
5. Skills:
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, both in-person and on the telephone.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology and insurance processes is beneficial.
- Proficiency in typing and in the use of electronic health records (EPIC preferred).
- Ability to provide friendly, empathetic, and family-centered care.
6. Availability:
- Daytime hours Monday-Friday with rotating Saturday morning shifts, 40hr/wk.

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
