GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Handle inbound and outbound calls to and from patients and physician offices with the purpose of scheduling radiological exam appointments for imaging centers.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to Center Manager Shared Functions or Lead Enterprise Scheduler.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Receive inbound calls from patients and physician offices, and schedule requested exams.
- Make outgoing calls to patients to schedule requested exams whose orders were faxed or sent via electronic requisition.
- Provide quality customer service to all callers.
- Handles initial scheduling inquiries and problems via the telephone.
- Handles situations, which may require research and/or troubleshooting
- Receive telephone calls, which are non-routine and require deviation from standard screens, scripts, and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
The job holder must demonstrate current competencies applicable to the job position.
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE: Previous experience of working within a customer service or Call Center environment is desirable but not essential. One year or more working as a medical scheduler in radiology and imaging environment is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Radiology and/or medical terminology a plus
- Experience with MS Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Excellent phone skills with ability to multi-task.
- Strong time management skills
- Basic typing & Computer Skills
ABILITIES:
- Ability to solve problems and show initiative.
- Ability to work in a cooperative nature within and outside department with staff, patients and families.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to explain procedures clearly and simply to patients.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: Requires sitting, standing and walking associated with a normal Call Center environment. Requires viewing a computer screen for long periods of time.
ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in a Call Center environment. Position will involve frequent contact with staff and the public. Occasional evening and weekend work.
