Job Description
The Front Desk Associate is responsible for managing patient flow in the office, by moving patients through a predetermined schedule of appointments. Benefits Medical insurance, Dental insurance, Vision insurance, Holiday pay.
Responsibilities
Greets all patients and visitors upon arrival. Issues correct paperwork Provides patients with intake and new patient forms as well as copies of office policies and legally required documents. Collects and verifies all insurance cards for all patients, scans and updates in chart. Accurately enters all demographic information into the computer system. Verifies all information in the system including, insurance/emergency/pharmacy information received from patient for accuracy and all required fields completed. Collects ALL co-pays, co-insurance and any balance due on account. Discusses patient’s insurance or refers to Billing Department if further explanation is required on balance due questions Assist in patient care in the office, assist in application of casts, translation, & referrals for advanced imaging/physical therapy clean exam rooms, escort patient to the exam room, coordinate with attorneys & doctors for any depositions, assure payment is received prior to deposition, Monitors the flow of patient check- in and check- out. Keeps patients informed of delays. Obtains necessary patient information to meet current Federal guidelines and Meaningful Use guidelines for electronic medical records. Discusses patient’s insurance or refers to Billing Department if further explanation is required on balance due questions. Scans pertinent patient information into EMR including patient authorizations, test results and recent labs delivered by patient, etc. Obtains patient authorization for medical records release (HIPAA compliance). Checks-out patients after their appointment, schedules follow-up appointments or procedure for new and recurring patients based on Physician and PA availability as per doctor’s request. Provides patient with all necessary paperwork upon check out for procedures, prescriptions or therapy as ordered by the doctor. Answers patient questions and provides assistance when necessary. Fields phone calls, responds to emails from physicians and staff. Scans all documents into patient charts and empties the fax in-box. Scheduling surgery with hospital, Pre-Authorization request for all type of insurance (out of network). Performs other duties as assigned by the CEO as per business needs.
Requirements
Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship, 5 Years experience in a Medical office, Bilingual (Spanish), Minimum High School Degree, Certified Phlebotomy Technician.
