Medical Billing Specialist

• Our medical practice is looking for an experienced Medical Billing Specialist to join our team.

Responsibilities:

• Timely follow up and resolution on outstanding AR to include underpaid/unpaid/denied claims for all payers including self-pay to obtain maximum reimbursement.
• Review insurance payments and determine accuracy of reimbursement based on contracts, fee schedules or summary plan documents.
• Ability to review medical documents to establish medical necessity. Review all rejected claims and appeals when appropriate. Work correspondence and credit balances.
• Assist patients on the phone and in person regarding the patient account. Initiate refund requests when necessary.
• Daily charge entry to include verifying patient demographics, assign modifiers, dx codes and revenue codes in accordance with coding and reimbursement guidelines.
• Work special assignments when needed.
• All other duties assigned by the manager to support the billing office's goals. Specific Requirements.

This position requires frequent and moderately complex communication with insurance carriers and other outside sources. Supervision is low to moderate; work is semi-repetitive. (Note this is not a remote position and requires attendance in office)

Education:

• High School diploma or equivalent

Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years account receivable, Medical Billing, insurance eligibility, authorization/referral experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid, commercial insurance, workers compensation and auto insurance preferred.
• Working knowledge of medical insurance, Medical Billing software (OpenPM and Elation a plus!) basic medical terminology is required.
• PC literate in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook), proficient in working a 10 key calculator.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 24 per week
