Job Summary:
The role of the Remote Medical Assistant is to support day to day operations by performing administrative tasks and ensuring high quality customer service for your providers & patients. This is s non-clinical position. As a Medical Assistant, you will perform various tasks on a daily basis, handle sensitive information confidentially, multitask and prioritize.
Primary Functions:
- Customer service skills and telephone etiquette
- Familiarity with medical terms and technology
- Understanding of law and ethics pertaining to medical practices
- Strong computer, data entry and office management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Empathy and compassion to give support to patients
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Patient Care Coordination
- Scheduling Meetings
- Summit Billing Reports
- Faxing/Mailing Orders
- Maintaining Providers Schedule
- Liaison between Hospital and Providers
- Communicating with PCPs
- Answer all incoming calls
- Data Entry
- Patient Chart Review
- Communication with Operations Team
Education, Training, Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent .
- Customer Service experience a plus
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Effective written, verbal, and electronic communication skills
- Show initiative, creativity, and problem-solving ability
- Ability to collaborate with colleagues to provide quality healthcare
- Ability to work under pressure
- Computer literacy
- Must be personable
Additional Qualifications:
- Prior experience using an electronic medical records system (EMR)
- Bilingual (Spanish & English) preferred
Relationship Reporting:
- Reports to the Executive Director
Physical Requirements:
- Communicate effectively with patients and staff
- Be able to sit, stand or view a computer screen for extended periods of time
- Perform repetitive hand and wrist motions for extended periods of time
- Be able to use hand and fingers to handle or feel
- Be able to reach with hands and arms
