Position Summary
Summary:
Under general direction, the Medical Assistant II works with patients, families, providers, other providers, and staff to promote timely access to needed care, providing daily continuity of care coordination, and coaching patients, families, and caregivers to understand the patient’s care plan and self-care management responsibilities. Responsibilities, knowledge, skills, abilities, and working conditions may change as needs evolve. Performs other related duties as assigned. Medical Assistant II contributes to department process improvement initiatives with willingness to try new processes and make changes for improvement. Medical Assistant II proactively identifies areas of improvement.

Detailed responsibilities:
- Standard Work: LRHPG Certified Medical Assistant II
- Identifies opportunities for activities related to team development, achieving dashboards, and in accomplishing department goals and objectives. Participates in GEMBA huddles by presenting information and assists with the collection of data.
- Contributes to department process improvement initiatives with willingness to try new processes and make changes for improvement. Proactively identifies areas of improvement.
- Assist in delivering quality care to providers, patients, patients’ families, and caregivers. Be aware and sensitive to cultural differences between patients and co-workers. Demonstrate personal responsibility and respect for patients, their families, and co-workers in professional appearance.
- Delivers high productivity while maintaining quality patient care. Takes the initiative to learn all of the roles within the department. Actively seeks to help others and find additional duties upon completion of assigned tasks. Proactively monitors provider schedules for opportunities to fill cancellations
- Collect and document data related to patient needs, including completing thorough documentation in the patient record. Consistently completes requirements for maintenance of MIPS processes and CQS Dashboard. Demonstrates and puts into application the skills of HER system (task lists, worklists, order entry, provider notes)
- Develop and maintain relationships among patients and their families, care team that supports their access to the medical home. Provide timely communication with patients, make inquiries, and execute follow-up actions between disciplines
- Monitors supply inventory and places orders for supplies (ex. appropriate amount of supplies on hand)
- Proactively monitors provider schedules identifying open appointments and calling patients that are waiting to fill schedules.

Qualifications & Experience
Education:
Essential:
- High School or Equivalent
Education equivalent experience:
Essential:
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assisting (MA) program
Other information:
Experience Essential:
Prior experience in a MA role which can include prior schooling
Experience Preferred:
One year of Medical Assisting experience in an Ambulatory/Clinical setting.
Certifications Essential:
CPR certification and Professional MA certification (CMA, RMA, NCMA, CCMA)
Pay: $17.48 - $20.10 per hour
Expected hours: 80 per week
