Position Overview:
As a Medical Assistant at Alabama Functional Medicine, you will document patient history, take vital signs, set up exam rooms, assist with procedures, assist patients in our HOCATT ozone sauna, draw blood, administer injections, perform electrocardiograms (EKG), respond to patient correspondence, order supplies, coordinate referrals, imaging, etc. You will be responsible for communicating patient responses/results with Providers and other team members as indicated. This position provides a unique opportunity to develop caring relationships with our patients as they conquer their difficult health challenges. It is extremely rewarding to see our patient results.
This position requires a Medical Assistant who takes responsibility for his/her own education as many of the therapies that we provide will be unfamiliar to you. You must be self-driven and extremely organized. Any team member who works in our practice must have exceptional customer service skills and be willing to go the extra mile for our patients. Professionalism in appearance and conduct is a must. You must also be comfortable and happy to discuss intimate issues relating to sexual health with both male and female patients as well as assist with procedures related to pelvic health.
This position requires a candidate who follows a healthy lifestyle and models the recommendations for healthy living that we recommend to our patients.
This practice recognizes the importance of pelvic health in most relationships and makes no apologies for researching and discussing ways to improve the lives of people by improving their sexual or pelvic function. A large part of what we do is about helping relationships. As a benefit of this position, the individual will have the opportunity (and is expected) to receive some free treatments to experience increased health themselves as well as be able to better communicate with inquiring patients. Qualifications/Skills:
· Skilled in vital sign measurement, phlebotomy, performing EKGs, IM/SQ Injections
· Knowledge of Medical Terminology
· Self-driven
· Capable of self-learning and able to research for both solutions and for own education
· Empathetic individual who genuinely desires to help people reach their wellness goals and eliminate their pain
· Ability to create/maintain patient relationships
· Exceptional communication skills and an ability to relay information concisely
· Comfortable discussing sexual and urinary health issues
· Comfortable conveying value of membership programs to patients to help them become comfortable with the monetary investment
· Basic computer skills required
· High level of professionalism and customer service required
· Exceptional organizational and time management skills required
· Respectful of coworkers and ability to work with a team
Physical Demands:
Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time as well as move about easily. Must be able to lift boxes/supplies as needed. Must be able to assist patients with repositioning/mobility if needed.
