- Taking medical histories
- Medical assistants gather information about a patient’s health, including past illnesses, medications, and family history.
- Recording vital signs
- Medical assistants record a patient’s blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and other vital signs.
- Preparing patients for exams
- Medical assistants prepare patients for physical exams and procedures by explaining the process and answering any questions.
- Assisting with procedures
- Medical assistants may assist physicians with procedures, such as pelvic exams and Pap Smears.
- Performing routine laboratory tests
- Maintaining patient records. Medical assistants maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including medical histories, test results, and treatment plans.
- Managing patient flow. Medical assistants help to manage patient flow, ensuring that patients are seen in a timely and efficient manner.
Requirements
Gynecology knowledge helpful.
