MEDICAL ASSISTANT JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION:
Medical Assistants are healthcare providers who assist the Physician or Nurse Practitioner with treatment and patient administration. They also ensure that the patients are comfortable during the visit.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Provide excellent customer service and care to patients and their families.
Manage and coordinate patient flow for providers daily. Including:
• Answer phones as needed and triage appropriately
• Prepare rooms for the day
• Escort patients to room; prepare patients for examinations.
• Triaging: measure height and weight, obtain vitals, review current medications and allergies, complete necessary surveys, complete appropriate documentation.
• Rooming patients
• Perform vision and hearing screening as necessary
• Assist doctors as needed with sick visits, as well as well-child visits, or sports physicals, and paperwork preparation as needed
• Clean and restock rooms and equipment.
• Assist at front desk as necessary with phones and front office duties
• Perform administrative duties of the facility upon request
• Obtain blood samples by finger stick or heel sticks, and cultures for lab work
• Prepare for and run laboratory tests
• Explain tests and procedures to patients and their families in a reassuring way
• Administering vaccines
• Order and stock supplies
• Provide patient education
• Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards of the facility
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Ability to prioritize workflow / tasks
• Strong decision making and organizational skills
• Ability to take direction; detailed oriented, reliable, strong work ethic
• Exceptional communication and social skills
• Strong computer skills, experience with electronic health records
• Demonstrate insight into the fears and anxieties of pediatric clients
• Create a welcoming and inviting environment
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
• High school diploma or general education degree; M.A. certificate and related work experience
