Job Summary
This position is responsible for mechanically building, inspecting, testing sub-assemblies and assemblies using standard procedures and quality control forms. The machine Assembler will fabricate simple parts and perform moderate troubleshooting of assemblies with the help of project engineering. This position plays a key role in guaranteeing on-time completion of production schedules and machine deliveries.
- Assemble all mechanical aspects of Serac machines as per blueprints, assembly drawings, standard work documentation and/or verbal instructions.
- Fabricate and/or modify simple machine components such as spacers, mounting brackets, etc. per sketches and blueprints.
- Install machine pneumatics as specified in pneumatic schematics.
- Follow assembly work instruction and maintain machine quality control forms.
- May perform work on complex and highly precise machines as needed.
- Report irregularities to senior and lead production associates with regards to incomplete work orders, defective components, faulty designs, and safety hazards.
- Time, set up, troubleshoot, and dynamic test equipment.
- Disassemble machines and/or subassemblies that are ready for packing and shipping.
- Actively collaborate with production management to identify and develop continuous improvement opportunities.
- Actively work with manufacturing engineering team to identify opportunities for eliminating waste.
- Maintain housekeeping and organization of workplace (5S).
- Sporadically work under supervision in various areas of production in response to production demands.
- Occasionally travel to customer sites to install and service machines.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, assembly drawings, standard operating procedures, and Bills of Materials.
- Must be able to manage multiple projects with flexibility of adapting to changing priorities.
- Basic understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic schematics.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have basic mathematical aptitude.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision in a team environment.
- Must be focused on customer satisfaction.
- Welding skills preferred but not necessary.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Must have a valid Illinois driver’s license.
- General computer knowledge (MS- Word, Excel, Outlook, MFGPRO is a plus).
- 5 years of experience building and troubleshooting packaging equipment in a low volume, high variety industry.
- 5 years of experience with power and hand tools (e.g. variety of wrenches, pliers, screw drivers, saws, etc.), fabrication machinery (e.g. drill press, lathe, grinder, etc.) and pneumatic tools.
- 5 years of experience in a manufacturing or general labor industry.
- 5 years of experience operating material handling equipment including forklifts, overhead cranes, gantry cranes, etc.

Pay: $28.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
